Plate is the dominant super duplex form by tonnage on most projects: pressure-vessel shells, heat-exchanger tube-sheets, FPSO process module fabrications, desalination chamber walls, and any large-area flat product is rolled from plate. The PREN ≥ 40 of Ferralium 255 (UNS S32550, EN 1.4507) makes the plate a substitute for higher-cost super austenitic 6Mo grades (254 SMO, AL-6XN) in seawater and chloride service, with the additional benefit that the duplex microstructure delivers roughly twice the yield strength of the austenitic grades, allowing thinner walls for the same pressure. Per-heat EN 10204 type 3.2 MTC, NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 Table A.10 sour-service stamp where required. RFQ: info@torqbolt.com / WhatsApp +91-22-66157017.
Controlling Standards
ASTM A240 / A240M is the umbrella spec for super duplex plate in pressure-vessel and ASME Section VIII service, with super duplex grades S32550 (Ferralium 255), S32750 (2507), and S32760 (Zeron 100) all covered. EN 10088-2 covers metric plate to the same compositional limits with the EN 1.4507 grade designation. For NORSOK piping the controlling spec is NORSOK M-630 with material data sheet MDS D55 for Ferralium 255 plate. Ferrite content must be in the 35 to 55% range per ASTM E562 point count, with the through-thickness gradient documented for sections above 25 mm.
